Is it possible to learn realistic drawing as an adult if I've never drawn before?

Do I need to be naturally talented to draw realistically?
Not at all! Realistic drawing is a skill that can be learned and improved with practice, even if you don’t consider yourself naturally talented. The key is persistence and a willingness to learn the techniques.
I’m new to art and don’t have much experience with drawing. Can I still join the class?
Yes! Our classes are perfect for beginners who are eager to learn. You just need to be motivated and committed to regular practice.
Are the classes small enough for individual attention?
Yes, we keep class sizes small to provide personalised guidance and one-on-one feedback, especially for students who may benefit from extra support.
My work schedule is unpredictable. Can I still take these classes?
We understand that life can get busy. If you know you might miss a class, you can let us know in advance, and we'll help you catch up on what you’ve missed.

How long is a term of classes?
Adult classes are structured in 8-week terms. We recommend committing to the full term to get the most out of the course.
Will I learn how to draw portraits, or is this course more focused on still life?
Both! While still life is often a great starting point, we also dive into portraiture and human anatomy to help you achieve realistic depictions of people. The course is designed to give you a well-rounded foundation in realistic drawing, no matter your subject preference.
I’m interested in drawing landscapes realistically. Will this class teach me how to capture nature and outdoor scenes?
Yes! Realistic drawing of landscapes is part of what we teach. While our focus is on techniques that apply to all types of drawing, landscape drawing involves understanding light, texture, and distance, all of which are covered in our lessons.
How long will it take to see significant improvement in my realistic drawing?
Improvement varies from person to person, but with consistent practice and regular feedback, you should start noticing progress within the first few weeks. Realistic drawing requires patience, but over time, you’ll see a noticeable difference in your skill level.
Do you cover advanced techniques, or is it just for beginners?
While we cater to beginners, we also provide advanced techniques for those who want to take their skills further. If you're looking to learn more sophisticated methods like intricate texture work or advanced shading techniques, you’ll get the opportunity to progress at your own pace.
I’m looking for a class with clear, structured lessons. Is this a good fit for me?
Yes, our courses are designed to have clear progression, and you will see improvement week after week through structured lessons that cover key techniques.
Will I get feedback on my progress?
Yes, absolutely! I provide personalised feedback on each of your drawings to help you improve. Whether you’re working on a class project or something you’re exploring on your own, I’ll be there to offer constructive criticism and guidance.
How much time should I dedicate to practice outside of class?
To see consistent improvement, it’s ideal to practice regularly outside of class. Even short, focused sessions of 30 minutes to an hour can make a big difference. The more you practice, the more confident and competent you’ll become in your realistic drawing skills.
Do you provide individual help for specific areas I’m struggling with?
Absolutely! If you’re struggling with a specific aspect of your drawing, like perspective, shading, or proportions, just let me know, and I’ll provide tailored guidance to help you improve in that area.
Can I experiment with my own style while learning realistic techniques?
Yes, once you have a solid understanding of realistic techniques, you can start exploring your own style. The goal of the class is to give you a strong foundation in realism, and from there, you can develop your own artistic voice and creative approach.
